Hello and Welcome!

My name is Goumah (Gaw-ma) Conde. I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, certified in Prepared & Enrich Premarital Counseling Assessment and professionally trained in EMDR. My expertise is in attachment work. I love combining trauma resolution and attachment focused therapy, because while trauma causes us to feel disconnected from others, it is by connecting with others that we experience healing. We were created for connection.

Since I was a teenager, I have been passionate about helping people heal relationship injuries. I didn’t quite know what to call it then. All I knew was that I love seeing people love each other in authentic ways; using understanding, respect, and compassion.

I love helping couples understand each other and communicate effectively so that their
marriage can function from a place of “we” rather than “I.” I thoroughly enjoy working with
individuals who doubt their abilities to succeed at the things they desire in life or who question
their value in this world. I am particularly interested in seeing people thrive in every aspect of
their lives.

I attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL and received my Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Counseling with additional training in Theology. My Supervision throughout my residency was from a trauma and attachment perspective. As a 9-year war survivor, and an immigrant to the United States from Liberia, West Africa, I bring cultural sensitivity as well as empathy to my practice.

One of the greatest gifts that I received from my residency was the opportunity to work in foster care. Some of my best years of training were spent understanding how childhood trauma affects adults and adult relationships. It prepared me to better understand the complexities of personalities in my clients.

In addition to providing therapy, I led the Marriage Team of therapists on my previous job, where I provided consultation on client cases and developed curriculums for marriage workshops, retreats and seminars. I also served as Adjunct Professor for the Social Sciences Department at Florida Memorial University, where I taught Internship I and II. This course ensures that students have a practical experience in the field of psychology.

A major achievement for me was writing and publishing my first book which is for girls in high schools and colleges. I am proud of the book because it has been a blessing to all who have read it and shared their reviews with me.

Regarding my personal life, I am a wife and mother to three precious girls. I have been married for 20 years to my husband and we have known each other for 22 years. I enjoy reading, walking, playing scrabble with my husband, listening to music, traveling, learning, and keeping up to date on new research and interventions for clients. When I am off from work I look
forward to time with my family.

I love what I do for a living and consider it a privilege that you would trust me with your stories.
